SODC Standards & Values

It's about holding ourselves to a higher standard of values:

1. Family First.

We are whole people. If your family life is well, so is your work life. The opposite is true, too. If your personal life is struggling, it’s hard to be on your A+ game. Work hard, give it your all, and soak up your downtime.

2. Positive Role Models.

The people you surround yourself with can either lift you up or bring you down. We choose to lift up—for the families we serve and by the employees, we bring into the SODC family.

3. Excellence.

If we want to succeed as a team and as a business, there’s only one way to do it: excellence in everything we do and every interaction with our dance families.

4. Age-Appropriate Costumes and Choreography.

We will honor the dignity of childhood by choosing costumes, themes, music, and movement that encourage, uplift, challenge, and inspire.

5. All Children Have Worth.

SODC operates on the belief that kids of all colors, faiths, backgrounds, shapes, and abilities are welcome and loved here. EVERY child who enters our space has worth and an ability to learn and benefit from the joy of dance.

6. Encourage Creativity.

Dance is nothing if not an ever-evolving expression of creativity. We are born with it, but it gets stamped out over time unless it’s nurtured. SODC is a place where creativity can grow in our students and ourselves.

7. Exceed Expectations.

Yes, we all want—and need—SODC to be a successful small business, but it really wouldn’t mean much if we weren’t able to do it with integrity. When we make a promise, we will deliver on it. If we make a mistake, we will not only own it, we will fix it. In short, we will always do the right thing—for the business and for our dance families.

8. Dance Lessons Teach Life Lessons.

Most of our students will not go on to be professional dancers. In fact, we argue that’s not even the main point. Rather, we want to teach our students to get up when they fall down, to finish what they start, to manage their time, to set goals, and to work as a team. These lessons—not the pliés and pirouettes—are the lessons that last.

9. Give Back to the Community.

We want to teach our students to use their gifts and talents to serve others as responsible members of the community. Whether it’s through performance, donation, or volunteering, our students can create significance in the community.

Our mission at SODC is to offer young dancers a high-quality education in a low-pressure environment. We want to lead with excellence in customer service and care personally about each family's experience.
